People living in rural areas and those in vulnerable situations often face significant barriers to accessing integrated long-term care services. Geographic distance, workforce shortages, limited digital infrastructure and social vulnerability can all make it harder to receive timely, coordinated and equitable care.

This Laurel webinar will explore how integrated long-term care approaches can respond more effectively to these challenges, ensuring that services remain accessible, inclusive and responsive to the needs of underserved communities.

The 75-minute session will bring together practitioners, researchers and policy actors from across Europe to share experiences, discuss practical solutions and contribute policy-relevant insights. Topics will include the realities of delivering care in rural areas, innovative service models and digital approaches, and strategies for addressing inequality and social vulnerability in integrated care.

The programme will feature contributions from Miriam Dolan of EURIPA, who will reflect on the realities and needs of rural healthcare; Thomas Bakratsas of the INSPIRE Project, who will present innovative models, promising practices and a digital AI-based solution to address inequalities in rural communities; and Anastasis Papanagnou and John Zaras of the EQUICARES Project, who will explore approaches to equitable care provision for people in vulnerable situations.

The webinar will conclude with an interactive discussion on what policy measures are needed to ensure equitable access to integrated long-term care, how digital and community-based solutions can help overcome barriers, and what lessons from local and European initiatives can be scaled or transferred across contexts.

The webinar will be recorded, and slides and a brief report will be made available after the event.
